Pickett pitches well at Pace, but Falcons drop two to Setters

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Bentley softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader at Pace Saturday afternoon. The Setters won the first game, 1-0, and they took the second game by a score of 6-2.

Maddie Pickett pitched all six innings for Bentley (19-33, 14-22 NE10) in the first game. She allowed only two hits and one walk, but the sophomore was still handed the tough-luck loss.

Pickett has been outstanding in her last four appearances in the circle. During that stretch, she has posted a 2.00 ERA through 14.0 innings.

Three different Falcons hit a double in the second game, but Bentley was unable to overcome Pace's (27-25, 19-17 NE10) 6-0 advantage through three innings.

Becca Harris hit a two-out double in the fourth inning, but she was left stranded on base. Michelle Diaz hit an RBI double in the sixth inning, driving in Burke from second base. Burke reached base with a base hit, and she moved into scoring position on Breelin McDougal's sacrifice bunt.

Carly DiMento led off the top of the seventh inning with a double, and she came in to score on a base hit by Emma Callahan.

Despite the losses at Pace, Bentley earned the #7 seed in the Northeast 10 Championship. The Falcons' first posteason game is on the road Tuesday, May 5. More details to follow.
