WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Tim Connolly (Dorchester/Boston Latin Acad.) and senior Connor Mulvey-Hudson (Ardmore, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) had the highest individual finishes for the Bentley University men's swimming and diving team during Saturday's first full day of competition in the Gompei Invitational at WPI.   

Bentley will begin Sunday's final day of action in third place among eight teams with a score of 857.5. Roger Williams University is second, 87.5 in front of the Falcons, and the host team is running away in first place, with 2,578 points.

Connolly took fourth in the 200 yard backstroke in 1:59.00, and sophomore teammate Matt Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown HS) followed in sixth (2:01.47). Mulvey-Hudson posted his fourth in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:01.13.

Freshman Jon Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) had two top-eight finishes as he was fifth in the 100 individual medley (55.88) and eighth in the 200 IM (2:01.72, a new career best by nearly 10 seconds).

Boains also helped Bentley finish fourth in the 800 free relay (7:12.59) and fifth in the 200 free relay (1:28.58). The former also included junior Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Sr. HS), freshman Aiden Karam (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Acad.) and sophomore Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS). Connolly and Bury swam on the 200 free, along with sophomore Liam Bartlett (Syracuse, N.Y./William Nottingham HS).

Bentley was eighth in the 400 medley relay (3:47.35) with Ahlmeyer and Bartlett joined by seniors Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) and Janco Cornelius (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield HS).

In the 500 free, Wilson and Karam were 11th and 12th, respectively, with times of 4:57.12 and 4:57.96. Also placing 12th were Witty in the 200 back (2:03.26), Bartlett in the 50 free (22.21) and Cornelius in the 100 breast (1:03.48).

Diving was also contested Saturday but those results were not yet available.

Sunday's action gets underway at 9 am with the finals at 4:30 pm.
