Wielgoszinski wins bronze in 1000 free on night one of NE10 Championships

WALTHAM, Mass. – Senior Leighton Wielgoszinski won the bronze medal in the 1000 freestyle event on night one of the Northeast 10 Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.

It's the third straight year Wielgoszinski has medaled in this event. His finishing time was 9:39.83.

Freshman Alex Kosel had a top-10 finish in the 1000, finishing in eighth. Sophomore Chris Fahlman also earned points for Bentley by finishing 11th.

The 800 free relay team missed a podium finish by just over one second and finished in fourth place. Their time of 6:49.85 was barely bettered by Southern Connecticut for bronze.

Wielgoszinski swam leadoff and he was followed by Matt Walden, Kosel and Daniel Ivanchikov.

Bentley is in second place as a team after the first night with 83 points. Bridgeport leads the way with 114 points.
