PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Brett Pullman threw for 330 yards and four touchdowns, while
Pat Damon and
Rashon Bradford both came away with a couple of touchdown catches to lead the Bentley football team to a 31-16 Northeast-10 win at Pace Saturday afternoon.
With a 4-1 record, the Falcons are off to their best start since 2021.
The game got off to an inauspicious start for both teams. The first two possessions for both squads ended with three-and-outs. Things didn't look more promising for the start of Bentley's third possession, when a Setters punt pinned the Falcons on their own two-yard line.
Bentley was facing another three-and-out until Pullman completed a 15-yard pass to
Jack Ford. The very next play was an 11-yard reception by
Joshua Compoh, and suddenly the Falcons were marching down field.
Damon and
Isaiah Decias both caught 10-yard passes. A few plays later, Compoh broke off a 13-yard run down the middle to Pace's 15-yard line. The very next Bentley play call went play action, which resulted in Damon being wide open down the middle of the field for the first points of the game.
Bentley's defense continued to stifle the Setters. Early in the second quarter Pace lined up to punt from its own 24-yard line.
Eman Nda blocked the punt, and
Day Garcia landed on the loose ball at the 19-yard line. The special teams play set up a 25-yard field goal by
Mason Campbell, putting Bentley up 10-0.
The Setters finally reached the end zone midway through the second quarter, but the Falcons answered right back with a nine-play, 73-yard touchdown drive. Pullman connected with Bradford from five yards out for six points, and Bentley took a 17-7 lead into halftime.
The Falcons scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter – a six-yard touchdown pass to Damon, and a 14-yard touchdown pass to Bradford.
Bentley is scheduled for another road game next week, when the Falcons head to Assumption, Oct. 12, for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
