GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Bentley and Adelphi went back and forth in a nine-round penalty kick shootout, but it was the Panthers that advanced to the Northeast 10 Championship semifinals.
The Panthers won the shootout 8-7 in the ninth round.
90 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime ended with the score tied 0-0, so the match headed to PKs.
Adelphi made eight of its nine kicks, including seven in a row after a miss in the second round.
In the ninth round, Adelphi's Callum Walmsley made his kick and goalkeeper Santiago Arango made a save to send them through.
Adelphi will face Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals on Wednesday.
