BOSTON, Mass. – Bentley outshot Northeastern 35-17 but saw its four-game winning streak snapped by a 3-1 score on Sunday afternoon at Matthews Arena.
The Huskies took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jack Williams 2:16 into the game, but that was answered a little over six minutes later by Bentley's
Oskar Bakkevig to tie the game 1-1.
The goal was Bakkevig's seventh of the season.
Northeastern jumped back in front 2-1 about six minutes later on a goal by Dylan Hryckowian.
The score stayed 2-1 throughout the second period despite the Falcons largely dominating, with a 13-2 edge in shots in the second frame.
Bentley had a power play opportunity 4:54 into the third period but was unable to cash in. They had a second power play opportunity of the period with 3:11 remaining in the game, but it was short-lived as a penalty of their own cancelled it out after 31 seconds.
Northeastern then extended its lead to two goals when Cam Lund found the back of the net with 1:42 left in the contest.
Huskies goalie Cameron Whitehead came up with 34 saves, while Bentley's
Connor Hasley made 14 saves.
The Falcons fall to 9-5-1 on the season. They next play on Friday night at Mercyhurst for the final series of the semester.
