Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – A tremendous 2024 season for the Bentley men's lacrosse team came to a close on Wednesday with a 16-6 defeat to Saint Anselm in the first round of the NCAA Championship.
The Falcons, who received an at-large bid to the NCAAs for the second straight year, finish the season with a 9-6 record.
Saint Anselm, now 11-4 on the year, advanced to the quarterfinals where they will meet Mercy on Sunday.
The third matchup of the season between the NE10 rivals saw the Falcons as the sixth seed in the North Region and the Hawks as the third seed.
A 5-0 Hawks run that stretched from the final minutes of the 2nd quarter into the 3rd quarter saw them turn a 6-5 lead into an 11-5 lead.
Saint Anselm took a 6-3 lead at 11:28 of the 2nd quarter after a goal by Jack Andrews, but Bentley clamped down and didn't allow another goal until the 3:28 mark of the quarter. During that stretch goals by Will Adams and David Gagnon pulled Bentley to within 6-5.
However the Hawks closed the half with three goals in the final 3:28 to lead 9-5 at halftime.
Two more goals by Saint Anselm in the 3rd quarter made it 11-5, before Nick Harvath scored for the Falcons at 6:06. That however was Bentley's final goal of the afternoon.
Adams, Conor Segreti and Alex Parton scored for Bentley in the opening quarter.
Adams led the Falcons with two goals. Goalie Jackson Tinsley made six saves, to go along with four ground balls and two caused turnovers, both team highs.
