#10 Men’s Soccer Defeats Assumption 2-0 Behind Goals by Haikal and Higgins

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley men's soccer broke into the United Soccer Coaches national poll at #10 on Tuesday, and hours later they took care of business on the field with a 2-0 victory over Assumption in a non-conference match.

It was the Falcons' second win over the Greyhounds in less than two weeks after a 3-1 win in Worcester in the NE10 matchup.

Haikal converted a penalty kick in the 28th minute and Higgins added the second goal in the 62nd minute.

Bentley's defense held the Greyhounds to just one shot on goal for the team's fifth shutout of the season.

Michael Gouvin, the NE10 Defensive Player of the Week, drew the penalty on Assumption's keeper which set up Haikal's penalty kick. The senior from North Easton, Mass., converted for his fifth goal of the season.

For the goal in the second half, Lukas Drahos made a steal as Assumption attempted to play the ball out from the back and a quick pass to Higgins led to a strike from about 25 yards for the goal.

Bentley improved to 8-1-1 overall. They have won four straight matches and are unbeaten in the last seven at 6-0-1.
