Field Hockey Falls in NCAA First Round to Newberry, 4-1

NEWBERRY, S.C. – Bentley field hockey saw their successful 2025 season come to a close on Saturday when they fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to the #1 overall seed Newberry 4-1.

The Falcons, the #8 seed in the tournament and 10th ranked nationally, were making their first appearance in the NCAAs since 2021. They had previously advanced to the NE10 finals for the first time since 2009.

Newberry kept its unbeaten season going at 19-0 and they will play the #5 seed West Chester next in the national semifinals.

Falcons goalie Annie Lorenz made 11 saves to match her career high.

Bentley's goal came from Madeline Krepelka in the 4th quarter, her 10th of the season.

That made her one of three players to reach double-digit goals, with Gracie Moore (15) and McKenzie Carey (10) the others.

Bentley finished the season with a 13-9 overall record.
