Haikal named the United Soccer Coaches’ National Scholar Player of the Year

WALTHAM, Mass. – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) on Thursday named Bentley University's Michael Haikal it's Division II Men's National Scholar Player of the Year.

In conjunction with this award, Haikal was also one of just five student-athletes named to the organization's Division II Scholar All-America team.

Earlier in the week, Haikal was voted to the USC's Division II Men's Scholar All-East Region team and was cited as a third team Academic All-America by the College Sports Communicators.

A finance major in his senior year, Haikal helped lead the Falcons men's soccer team to the NE10 regular season championship and an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Other major honors he has received include the NE10 Player of the Year, first team All-America by USC and third team All-America by D2CCA.

In 17 games this season, the North Easton, Massachusetts native scored eight goals, with five game-winners, and defensively helped Bentley hold opponents to under one goal per game (0.94).

As a team Bentley is ranked 19th in the final USC national poll of the season.
