WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley's
Michael Haikal earned another major award for his standout 2025 season, as he was named the Northeast 10 Sport Excellence Award winner for men's soccer on Wednesday.
A midfielder, Haikal led the Falcons to their first NE10 regular season championship since 1995 and first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1975.
A finance major, he earned a number of major recognitions for his play on the field and work in the classroom.
He was a CSC third team Academic All-America and the Division II national Scholar Player of the Year from the United Soccer Coaches.
Haikal was also named the NE10 Player of the Year, a first team All-America by the United Soccer Coaches and a third team All-America by D2CCA.
In 17 games, he scored eight goals and helped lead Bentley to 11 wins. The team was ranked 19
th in the final national poll of the season.
To be eligible for Sport Excellence honors, a student-athlete must have been named to the All-Conference team in their respective sport, spent at least two consecutive full-time semesters at their institution and have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better (for both undergraduate and graduate work).
