WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley football team placed three recipients for the All-New England Team, New England Football Writers (NEFW) recently announced. Head coach
CJ Scarpa '17 also earned NEFW Coach of the Year (NCAA DII/III).
Graduate tight end
Pat Damon, graduate wide receiver
Isaiah Decias, and senior linebacker
Henry Schouten earned NEFWÂ honors for the Falcons. The trio also earned All-Northeast 10 First Team during its conference championship season.
Decias earned NE10 Offensive Player of the Year this fall. He missed the first three games of the season due to an injury, but his return to the gridiron made an immediate impact for the Falcons. His season debut resulted in 69 receiving yards and two touchdown catches in a conference win over American International (Sept. 27). Decias had a career-high 157 receiving yards during Bentley's thrilling comeback win at Saint Anselm (Nov. 1), and he followed that up with a 153 receiving yards when Bentley beat Assumption to claim the NE10 title (Nov. 8).
Decias led the NE10 in receiving yards per game by a wide margin through the regular season. He averaged 97.3 receiving yards per game, while no other NE10 player averaged as much as 80. Decias' seven touchdown catches tied for second in the conference.
Damon averaged 4.8 catches per game in the regular season – third in the NE10. Damon's four touchdown catches on the season rank ninth in the NE10. Damon achieved a season-high seven catches in three different games, and he totaled a season-best 94 receiving yards in the NE10 title win over Assumption.
Schouten finished the regular season ranked third in NCAA DII for tackles per game (12.6), and he was named NE10 Defensive Player of the Week three times this season. Schouten totaled double-digit tackles in seven games this season.
