Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Four Falcons score in double figures as Bentley beats St. Thomas Aquinas, 81-67

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four Falcons scored in double figures as the Bentley men's basketball team beat St. Thomas Aquinas, 81-67, in the Dana Athletic Center Wednesday afternoon. It was the fourth consecutive win for Bentley (8-3).

Cash McClure had a game-high 19 points, while Cooper Farrall, Ivan Misic, and Mantas Zilys each scored 14 points. Farrall added 10 boards for his sixth double-double of the season, and Misic came up one rebound shy of a double-double.

The Falcons were well prepared for the Spartans' full-court pressure. Bentley often got behind the St. Thomas Aquinas defense for easy points in the paint. Instances when the defense collapsed in the paint, the Falcons were able to quickly move the ball for open 3-point shots.

Bentley claimed its first double-digit lead, 15-5, less than four minutes into the game. The Falcons built the lead with a 7-0 run that included a fastbreak 3-pointer by Misic, and a fastbreak layup by Farrall.

The first-half lead got as high as 22 points, 42-20, when Joe Carroll hit a 3-pointer from the right wing. Bentley took a 46-25 lead into halftime.

The Spartans (6-8) showed more resilience in the second half. They cut Bentley's lead to single digits, 65-56, with just over six minutes left in regulation. But the Falcons answered back with a Misic 3-pointer, which was the start of an 8-0 Bentley run that got the home team comfortably back into a double-digit lead.

Bentley held the Spartans to 36.6-percent shooting from the floor, marking the eighth consecutive game that the Falcons have held the opposition to under 41.0-percent. The Falcons totaled 46 rebounds – the team's second highest total this season.

The Falcons return to their Northeast 10 schedule when they host Southern Connecticut Sunday, Jan. 4, at 3:30 p.m.
