800 Free Relay and Wielgoszinski Medal on Night One of NE10s

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bentley men's swimming and diving team claimed two medals, one individual and one relay, on night one of the Northeast 10 Championship.

The men's 800 team claimed a bronze medal with a time of 6:56.71. They beat out Saint Michael's by .42 seconds for the final spot on the podium. The Falcons team consisted of Ethan Rehkopf, Andrew Matjucha, Leighton Wielgoszinski and Daniel Ivanchikov.

The first individual medals of the championship were awarded in the 1000 free and Wielgoszinski won silver in the 1000 for the second straight year. His time of 9:41.47 was less than three seconds out of first and a season best by almost 14 seconds.

Andrew Matjucha finished in fifth and was just over four seconds out of the medal places.

Joey Twomey (10:21.90) and Kai West (10:37.59) each swam season bests in the 1000.
