Bentley Falls to Sacred Heart 2-0, Finishes Regular Season in 3rd Place

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Bentley fell to Sacred Heart 2-0 on Saturday in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

The Falcons end the regular season with records of 18-14-2 overall and 16-9-1 in Atlantic Hockey. They earned the No. 3 seed in the postseason tournament, received a bye to the quarterfinals and will host an opponent to be determined in a best of three series starting on March 7.

Bentley finished 3rd in the final AHA regular season standings with 51 points. That's their best regular season finish since 2018-19 when they were second.

In a defensively minded game the team's combined for just 38 shots on goal. Both goaltenders, Bentley's Connor Hasley and SHU's Ajeet Gundarah, made 18 saves.

The game was scoreless for the first 29-plus minutes until the Pioneers took a 1-0 lead on a goal from the blue line by Mikey Adamson.

The game stayed a 1-0 until the 5:55 mark of the third period when Tyler Ghirardosi scored on the power play after he jammed away at the puck in front of the net after two initial saves by Hasley.

Bentley sent on an extra attacker for the final 2:01 but wasn't able to find a goal.

The Falcons won the season series over SHU 2-1.
