WALTHAM, Mass. – Pat Heber totaled a career-high 10 strikeouts to lead the No. 24 Bentley baseball team to an 11-3 win over Franklin Pierce in the first game of a doubleheader Friday afternoon.

Making his seventh start of the season, Heber allowed just two earned runs in 6.2 innings to collect his second win this spring. Heber's previous career high in strikeouts was nine against Caldwell March 14, 2024.

Two Falcons went 3-for-4 in the win against Franklin Pierce: Jared Berardino and Patrick Purcell. Tommy Bolton and Stan DeMartinis III both reached base four times, with two hits and pair of walks, each. Brendan Sencaj touched home plate three times after a 2-for-5 game at the plate.

Bentley set the tone early with consecutive singles by Bolton and Sencaj to start the bottom of the first inning. The runners moved up a base on a passed ball, and DeMartinis drove in Bentley's firs run with a single. Berardino followed with an RBI single of his own to push Bentley's lead to 2-1.

Two batters later, Purcell drew a bases-loaded walk to increase the lead to 3-1.

Bentley held a 5-2 lead before rallying for four runs in the seventh inning. Berardino and Purcell both hit RBI singles during the rally, and Jimmy Mitchell drew a bases-loaded walk.
