WALTHAM, Mass. – Brendan Sencaj slugged a grand slam during a wild seven-run second inning, but the Bentley baseball team ultimately came up short against Post, 14-12, Tuesday evening. The game was played at Waltham High School's Yetten Field.

The Falcons entered the second frame in a 4-0 hole, and it didn't look any better when Bentley's first two batters were retired. However, David VanderZouwen, Jack Matthews, and Tommy Bolton loaded the bases by drawing three consecutive walks.

From there, it was one swing of the bat by Sencaj to tie the game. And the Falcons weren't done there. Jared Berardino followed with a double, and Stan DeMartinis III launched his sixth home run of the season to nearly the same spot as Sencaj's grand slam.

Bentley tacked on a seventh run in the second inning when Nick Pappas crushed a solo homer.

Bentley's lead was up to 9-4 entering the seventh inning, but that's when Post posted six runs to take a 10-9 lead.

The Falcons evened the score in the eighth inning. DeMartinis hit a single and then moved to third base on a double by Pappas. When Curt Heath hit a chopper to second base, DeMartinis sprinted to the plate and beat the throw home to tie the game, 10-10.

The Eagles rallied for a four-run ninth inning, and this time Bentley didn't have the answer.

Zach Eigenbrod pitched well out of the bullpen for Bentley. He worked four innings without allowing a run, and he struck out four batters.

Bentley returns to Florida later this week for a six-game trip that begins against Molloy Friday, March 7. Lynn is hosting that game.
