WALTHAM, Mass. – There's no better preseason inspiration than sitting down with one of the greatest soccer players in U.S. history. The Bentley women's soccer team met with Kristine Lilly this week, listening to stories that ranged from high school training, to winning World Cup titles in sold-out stadiums.
Lilly was a four-time national champion at North Carolina. She won two Olympic gold medals, two World Cup titles, and she is the most capped player ever (women's
and men's soccer).
Lilly emphasized how much she misses playing collegiate soccer. She said that playing her favorite sport with her best friends on a daily basis was a fun way to take her mind off of her studies.
Bentley head coach
Sarah Dacey was teammates with Lilly at North Carolina. "She was very consistent, but she had fun," Dacey recalled of Lilly. "She was the gold standard – I looked up to her the most." Â
