WALTHAM, Mass. –
Jake Black was named the Atlantic Hockey Forward of the Week and
Lukas Swedin the Goalie of the Week after helping Bentley sweep Air Force on the road last weekend.
Black had three goals and two assists in the two games. Swedin earned the win in both contests and posted a .971 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average.
In Saturday's 3-1 victory, Black's goal at 2:49 of the 2
nd period broke a 1-1 tie and went down as the game-winner. Late in the third period, his empty net goal sealed the win for the Falcons.
One night earlier in Friday's 5-1 win, Black had the primary assist on goals by
Michael Mesic in the first period and
Stephen Castagna in the third period. After Castagna's goal, Black scored himself on the power play at the 7:49 mark.
This is his first career Atlantic Hockey weekly award.
Swedin is the Goalie of the Week for the second time this season.
He made a career-high 38 saves in Friday's win and followed that up with a 29-save effort on Saturday. He also helped Bentley's penalty kill go 7-7 on the weekend.
On the season Swedin ranks fourth nationally in goals against average (1.80) and sixth in save percentage (.933).
The first-place Falcons are 11-1-2 in Atlantic Hockey and 12-6-2 overall. They open a series at Sacred Heart on Friday at 7:00 pm.
