FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Bentley saw its five-game unbeaten streak snapped at Sacred Heart with a 3-2 defeat on Friday night.
The Falcons held a 2-1 lead in the third period from goals by
Jake Black in the first period and
Michael Mesic in the second period.
But Sacred Heart scored twice in the final six-plus minutes to come away with the 3-2 victory. Felix Trudeau tied the game at the 13:56 mark with his 18
th goal of the season. Then with 2:01 left, defenseman John Driscoll scored the go-ahead goal.
The Falcons fell to 11-2-2 in the AHA and 12-7-2 overall.
Sacred Heart took a 1-0 lead late in the 1
st period on a goal by defenseman Noah Ellis at the 18:51 mark. But just 41 seconds later, Black, the reigning AHA Player of the Week, scored his ninth goal of the season to tie the game.
Owen Goodbrand had the assist.
At 3:30 of the 2
nd period, Mesic notched his seventh of the year to give Bentley the lead.
Garrett Horsager had the primary assist after a pass from behind the net found Black open out in front for a quick shot past SHU goalie Teagan Kendrick.
The Falcons held the 2-1 lead until just before the six minute mark of the third period when Trudeau tied the game for SHU.
Bentley will look for a series split when these teams play on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
