WALTHAM, Mass. –
Jake Black scored the tying goal with 31 seconds remaining to help Bentley earn a 2-2 tie with Princeton, followed by a shootout win.
Black's goal came with Bentley's net empty and on the penalty kill, meaning the teams skated 5-on-5. Defenseman
Garrett Horsager entered the offensive zone with speed and passed to
Kellan Hjartarson who was positioned along the left side boards.
Hjartarson then fired a centering pass to Black on the far post for the goal to tie the game 2-2. The goal was his 10
th of the season and extended his points streak to seven games.
Bentley then won the shootout in the fourth round, 3-2. With the shootout tied 2-2 in the fourth round, Horsager scored to give Bentley the advantage. Falcons goalie
Lukas Swedin then denied Princeton's Julian Facchinelli to give them the shootout victory.
Dylan Cook scored in the first round and
Oskar Bakkevig in the third round for the Falcons.
In regulation, freshman Marton Nemes scored for the third straight contest at 10:53 of the second period. That tied the score 1-1 after Princeton took a 1-0 lead 26 seconds into the second frame.
The Tigers took a 2-1 lead at 13:50 of the third period on a power play goal, before Black tied it late.
Bentley's record goes to 13-7-4 on the season. The next travel to Robert Morris for a series beginning next Friday night.
