Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Bentley scores eight goals in win at Holy Cross to clinch series victory

WORCESTER, Mass. – Eight different players scored goals in Bentley's 8-3 victory over Holy Cross at the Hart Center in Worcester on Saturday night.

The win, combined with Friday's shootout win, gave the Falcons the series victory with five of six points. It was a matchup of the top two teams in the Atlantic Hockey standings entering the weekend and Bentley leaves it in first place.

Jake Black scored the game's first goal at 9:52 of the first period with a highlight reel goal, scoring from an impossible angle from behind the goal line.

Bentley never let up from that point to score a season-high eight times.

After Black's goal, defenseman Jack Dalton scored on the power play at the 13:58 mark for a 2-0 lead.

In the second period defenseman Garrett Horsager, playing in just his second game back this season, netted a shorthanded tally to make it 3-1 at the 8:59 mark. It became a 4-1 lead a little over two minutes later when Oliver Salo notched his first of the season by tipping-in a rebound after a shot by Black.

Leading 4-2 in the third period Bentley pulled away with three straight goals.

Kellan Hjartarson scored at the 5:53 mark with his fourth of the season. Four minutes later, the Falcons scored twice in 30 seconds to take a 7-2 lead after goals by Chase Davis and Oskar Bakkevig.

Team captain Stephen Castagna scored the team's eighth goal of the night with 2:47 to play.

Bentley improved to 9-1-2 in the AHA with the win and 10-6-2 overall.
