WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley's home opening weekend against Hockey East opponents ended in a split after the Falcons were defeated by Northeastern 5-1 on Saturday night.
The Falcons enjoyed a 3-0 shutout win over Vermont on Friday night but were unable to overcome the Huskies, who were playing their first contest of 2026-27 on Saturday.
Senior defenseman
Jack Dalton scored a power play goal for Bentley in the third period, which was assisted by
Oskar Bakkevig and
Josh Giuliani.
Junior netminder
Nicholas Bevilacqua made 23 stops.
Northeastern's Jacob Mathieu scored two goals, the first at 8:36 of the first period and the second at 14:01 of the third frame. He, along with Jordan Tourigyn, led the Huskies with three points.
Up next for the Falcons is another tough test when they head out to Grand Forks next weekend to take on the #4 ranked University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
