Poehlein reaches 1,000 career kills, Bentley sweeps Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Bentley junior Sophia Poehlein eclipsed 1,000 kills for her collegiate career when the Falcons swept Saint Anselm (25-22, 25-9, 25-23) Saturday afternoon. She is the 10th Falcon program history to reach the milestone.

Poehlein has been a force from the very start of her Bentley (17-6, 6-0 NE10) career. As a freshman in 2024, she led the team in kills per set (3.02) to help lead the program to its second consecutive NCAA DII East Regional title. She led the Falcons in kills per set (3.72) last year when Bentley clinched its third consecutive regional title.

Poehlein entered the match at Saint Anselm (12-8, 2-4 NE10) with 996 career kills. Her 1,000th kill happened midway through the first set. She finished the match with 11 kills, and Lulu Pavan added 10.

Tory Vitko notched her sixth double-double of the season by recording 28 assists and 14 digs against the Hawks. She also had four total blocks, as did Elena Coban.

Bentley's winning streak is at 16 matches, with four contests (three conference) remaining in the regular season. The Falcons host Franklin Pierce Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m.
