RINDGE, N.H. -
Eveline Ronzoni scored 3:08 into double overtime to lift Bentley field hockey to a key 2-1 road win over Franklin Pierce on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons improved to 4-4 in Northeast 10 games, with just one game left in the regular season on November 6 at Southern New Hampshire.
Sophie Manchester helped get the winning goal started with a 20-yard run to the edge of the shooting circle. She played a pass towards the cage that was first deflected by the Ravens goalie, but Ronzoni corralled the rebound and finished on the near post for the goal.
Bentley's goalies
Olivia Heryla and
Annie Lorenz combined to make 11 saves. Heryla made eight saves and was credited with the win.
The Falcons fell behind 1-0 after an early goal by FPU's Reese Swanson 1:20 into the game.
The score stayed that way into the fourth quarter, until Bentley's
Kaitie Ryan scored a clutch goal with just 5:08 remaining.
After the ball went out of bounds in Franklin Pierce's defensive half, Ryan made a heads up play to intercept a pass back towards the Ravens' cage. She then made a move around FPU's goalie to finish into the open cage for the goal.
Neither team scored in the final five-plus minutes of regulation or in the first 10 minute overtime, which led to Ronzoni's goal in double overtime.
