SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Four different players scored to lift Bentley field hockey past American International 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Emily Stagnone,
Madeline Krepelka,
Layla Conway and
Lilly Cook were the goal scorers for the Falcons, who evened their Northeast 10 record to 1-1 on the season.
Cook's goal late in the third quarter turned out to be the game winner.
With the Falcons leading 3-2, her second goal of the season with 3:02 left in the third frame gave them a two-goal cushion.
Kaitie Ryan had the assist.
AIC scored 3:45 into the third quarter to get to within 4-3, but Bentley closed the door the rest of the way.
Bentley jumped out to a 1-0 lead 6:51 into the contest on a goal by senior
Emily Stagnone, her second of the year.
AIC tied the game 5:06 into the second quarter, but two quick goals by the Falcons thereafter made it 3-1.
Madeline Krepelka scored unassisted 8:18 into the second frame, and just under five minutes later it was
Layla Conway who scored to give Bentley a 3-1 lead.
Cook had the assist on Conway's goal.
Bentley now turns its attention to Saturday's Senior Day game against Saint Michael's, which gets underway at 2:00 pm.
