WALTHAM, Mass. – A rematch of the 2025 NE10 championship game between Bentley and Franklin Pierce ended in a 2-2 draw. All four goals were scored in the first half.
A frantic 11-minute stretch in the first half saw Franklin Pierce jump out to a 2-0 lead, only for Bentley to equalize with two goals of their own less than two minutes apart.
The action started when Franklin Pierce's Guillermo Rios notched the first of his two goals in the 13
th minute with a free kick from 20 yards away.
Rios scored again just 71 seconds later after receiving a pass from the other end of the field from Neketa Chkradiouk and scoring from about 30 yards away.
The Falcons though fought back to tie the score in short order.
Junior
Matt McAuliffe scored on a blistering shot to the near post from 15 yards away for his second goal of the year in the 22
nd minute.
Michael Cagno and
Antonio Di Gaudio helped set the goal up, with Cagno spotting McAuliffe open on the right wing for the shot.
Less than two minutes later, Cagno scored himself to tie the game 2-2.
Antonio Santos got the play started with a shot into the box that the FPU keeper blocked away. McAuliffe jumped on the loose ball and spotted Cagno open on the right for a shot from eight yards away for the goal.
Neither team was able to score in a scrappy second half.
Michael Gouvin had the best scoring chance for either team with a blistering shot from 25 yards that was saved by the FPU keeper.
With the result, Bentley's record goes to 4-4-3 overall and 2-2-1 in the NE10.
The next match is on Saturday at Pace University at 6:00 pm.
