Falcons head to Springfield Wednesday to take on AIC

WALTHAM, Mass. – A midweek Northeast 10 game awaits the No. 22 Bentley women's basketball team in Springfield, as the Falcons prepare to take American International Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 5:30 p.m.
 
Conference landscape
Bentley (16-3, 9-1 NE10) is tied with Southern Connecticut (17-4, 12-1 NE10) for first place in the NE10. American International (15-6, 9-4 NE10) is in third place, and Assumption (16-5, 8-5 NE10) is in fourth. The six remaining NE10 teams are all below .500 in conference games.
 
Swatting the swarm
Bentley beat the Yellow Jackets, 76-61, in Waltham earlier this season (Jan. 14). Kayana Armbrister led the Falcons in scoring with 20 points, and Niya Morgen net 17 points. Cassidy Yeomans tallied a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists, while Mikela Cooper had a double-double off the bench with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Shoot your shot
Bentley continues to be the best shooting team in the NE10. The Falcons' 44.3 field-goal percentage leads the NE10, while no other team is shooting as well as 43.0-percent. Juia Elie ranks second in the NE10 for field-goal percentage (51.9-percent), while Kayana Armbrister is sixth (48.9-percent), and Cherish Bryant ranks eighth (48.3-percent).
 
The Doran's open
Sophomore Brennan Doran matched her career-high in scoring when she totaled 13 points during Bentley's win at Franklin Pierce (Feb. 7). She scored all 13 points during the Falcons' 30-point third quarter. Overall for the game, Doran shot 5-for-6 from the floor, including 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, and she made her one free-throw attempt.  
 
Cherish the rock
Freshman Cherish Bryant had one of the best games of her young Bentley career in the Falcons' win at Franklin Pierce (Feb. 7). She scored 11 points while shooting 5-for-7 from the floor, and she dished out seven assists without a single turnover.
 
Team leaders
Niya Morgen is Bentley's leading scorer, averaging 14.6 points per game. She has scored in double digits in each of the past 11 games. Kayana Armbrister leads the team in rebounding (6.4), and she is the team's second-leading scorer. Julia Elie's 5.9 rebounds is second on the team, and her 9.1 scoring average is third.
 
Scouting American International (15-6, 9-4 NE10)
The Yellow Jackets enter Wednesday's game with five consecutive wins, propelling their conference record from 4-4 to 9-4. AIC has the top scoring offense in the NE10, averaging 70.2 points per game. The team's 36.6 3-point percentage leads the NE10. Chelsea Reeves is the conference's leading scorer, as she averages 17.3 points per game. Keyvanna Bennett is third in the conference for rebounding (8.2) and eighth in scoring (13.8).
