Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

McClure dishes out nine assists, Elliott knocks down four treys in win at AIC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Cash McClure dished out nine assists, and Cooper Farrall scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Bentley men's basketball team to a 92-85 win at American International Wednesday night.

McClure added 22 points in the winning effort, good for his sixth double-double of the season. He shot 9-for-15 from the floor, and turned the ball over only twice. Farrall shot 8-for-14 from the floor, he committed just one turnover.

The Falcons (16-7, 9-5 NE10) turned the ball over only seven times against the Yellow Jackets (5-19, 4-10 NE10), marking Bentley's 13th game this season with fewer than 10 turnovers. No NE10 team is better than Bentley at taking care of the ball, as the Falcons average only 10.2 turnovers per game.

The Falcons narrowly trailed at halftime, 50-48. But Bentley put together a big second half, shooting 65.4-percent from the floor in the game's final 20 minutes.

The AIC lead reached 55-51 early in the second half. From there, however, McClure and Farrall combined to score six unanswered points to put Bentley in front, 57-55. Bentley held the lead for the rest of the game.

The Falcons' advantage reached double-digits when Joe Carroll drained a 3-pointer to make it a 73-62 game with 11:26 on the clock.

AIC chipped away and made it a one-possession game, 82-80, with 3:48 left in regulation. But Carroll hit another trey, and following a defensive stop, Farrall knocked down two free-throws to give Bentley some breathing room at 87-80.

Jordan Elliott scored a career-high 16 points in the win. He shot a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range, coming up two makes short of tying the program for most 3-pointers made without a miss.

Mantas Zilys scored 11 points off the bench by shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. As a team, Bentley shot a season-best 57.1-percent (16-for-28) from distance.

The Falcons return home Saturday, Feb. 14, to take on Assumption at 3 p.m.
