Falcons host Senior Night on Friday as part of Sacred Heart series

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley hockey team hosts Sacred Heart this weekend for two games at Bentley Arena, Friday night at 7:00 pm and Saturday night at 6:00 pm. Before Friday's game, the team will celebrate its senior class on Senior Night.

Game Notes

The seven student-athletes set to be honored are Stephen Castagna, Arlo Merritt, Ryan Upson, Jake Black, Pat Lawn, Ryan Nause and Seth Bernard-Docker.

The Falcons are coming off a 4-3 overtime win over Army West Point at the Arena on Tuesday night. Oliver Salo scored the winner 1:53 into overtime. Both teams had three unanswered goals, with Bentley leading 3-0 early in the second period on tallies by David Helledy and two from Jake Black.

Black is up to 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points on the season. He is tied for second in Atlantic Hockey in goals and leads in points. Since January 1, Black is tied for the national lead with 22 points and his 11 goals are the most in the NCAA since then.

Castagna is tied for seventh in the AHA in points (25) and Kellan Hjartarson is tied for fifth in assists (17).

Entering Friday's game, Bentley has the league's top ranked scoring offense and defense. They average 3.10 goals scored per game and 2.38 goals allowed per game. They also have the AHA's top ranked power play unit at 21.8 percent.

The Falcons lead the AHA standings heading into this weekend with 47 points from a 14-3-4 record (16-8-5 overall). They lead RIT by five points and have two games in-hand. They lead Holy Cross by 11 points and have played one more game.

Sacred Heart is in fourth place with 33 points from a 10-7-3 record (14-11-3 overall). Last weekend they split a series at home against Mercyhurst with a 5-1 win and 2-1 defeat.

The Falcons and Pioneers played a series four weeks ago in Connecticut. Sacred Heart won the first game 3-2 after they scored two goals late in the third period to rally from 2-1 down. The second game was a 4-4 tie with Bentley winning the shootout.

The all-time series is 45-41-8 in favor of Sacred Heart.

After this weekend, Bentley heads to RIT for a single game on February 20.
