Bentley Remembers Hall of Famer David Langley ‘81

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University Athletics mourns the recent passing of former Falcon hockey standout David Langley '81, a 1993 inductee into the Bentley Athletic Hall of Fame.

Langley, who passed away on May 7, helped Bentley capture back-to-back ECAC Division III championships in 1980 and 1981. He ranked fourth on the Falcons' all-time scoring list at the time of his induction, with 56 goals and 57 assists for 113 points.

Today, four-and-a-half decades after finishing his career, Langley still ranks 14th in program history in points. He led Bentley's first varsity team in scoring, with 17 goals and 17 assists during his freshman year, and set a school record, since broken, as a junior in 1979-80 with 19 goals, along with 16 assists for 35 points.

Langley, who played at Marian High School in Framingham, had a hat trick on March 1, 1980 to give Bentley a 7-6 overtime win over RIT in the championship game of the ECAC Division III playoffs. He completed the hat trick at 3:58 of overtime when he deflected in a slap shot by Harry See on a power play.

The following season, Langley helped Bentley to a sparkling 20-1 record and earned second-team All-ECAC Division III honors.

Langley is survived by his wife RoseMarie; his children Marissa, Monika and son-in-law Nathaniel, Brandon and daughter-in-law Eloisa; his grandchildren LeviRose Rye, and Roman Julius; and a wide circle of family and friends who cherished him.

A celebration of his life will be held in June.
