Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Farrall scores 25 points as Bentley holds off Adelphi's comeback bid

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Cooper Farrall scored a team-high 25 points, and he led all players in rebounding with 11 boards, as the Bentley men's basketball held on for an 80-76 win at Adelphi Saturday afternoon.

Bentley (19-7, 12-5 NE10) held a 47-35 lead at halftime, but it was a different game in the second half. After shooting 66.7-percent from the floor in the first half, the Falcons scored just 11 points through the first 10 minutes of the season half. During those 10 minutes, the Panthers (17-10, 9-8 NE10) cut Bentley's lead to five points, 60-55.

Uncharacteristically, the Falcons committed three consecutive turnovers, which allowed Adelphi to cut its deficit to one point, 61-60. A string of miscues is unlike Bentley, as it commits the fewest turnovers per game in the NE10.

Jordan Elliott ended Bentley's scoring draught by hitting a 3-pointer to increase the Bentley lead to 64-60 with just under seven minutes left in regulation. Following a defensive stop, Chase Clarke tipped in an offensive rebound to make it a 66-60 game.

Despite Adelphi's best efforts, Bentley never relinquished its lead. The Panthers scored in the paint to get within three points, 72-69, but Cash McClure answered right back by hitting a jumper. After the Panthers missed a 3-pointer, Clarke scored in the paint again to give Bentley a 76-69 lead with 1:16 on the clock.

McClure and Mantas Zilys combined to shoot 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final minute of regulation to seal the win.

McClure totaled 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Clarke finished with 16 points and six boards, and Ivan Misic added 10 points in the winning effort.

With one game left in the regular season, Bentley trails Saint Anselm (20-7, 13-4 NE10) by just one game for first place in the NE10. The Falcons host Southern New Hampshire Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m.
