Sophisticated in the circle
Freshman pitcher
Sophie Jorjorian has been a revelation for the Falcons. She was named the NE10 Pitcher of the Week earlier this week (March 16) after she pitched three complete games – including two shutouts. Jorjorian twirled a seven-inning shutout against Goldey-Beacom (March 9), and she repeated the feat against Felician (March 11). Jorjorian also pitched a complete game in Bentley's extra-innings affair against St. Thomas Aquinas (March 12). Each of those games were played down in Melbourne, Florida at the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) Space Coast Complex. Overall this season, Jorjorian has a 3.57 ERA.
Â
Callahan automatic
Sophie Jorjorian isn't the only Bentley freshman who has been standing out.
Emma Callahan enters the weekend with a .326 batting average, which ranks second on the team. She has four doubles and seven RBI through 12 games (10 starts).
Â
Diaz leads the way
Sophomore
Michelle Diaz is Bentley's leading hitter with a .362 batting average. She has five multi-hit games this season, including a three-hit effort against Goldey-Beacom (March. 9).
Â
Ella, Ella, ay, ay
Ella Bunovsky consistently finds ways to get on base, as her .396 on-base percentage leads Bentley. She has 11 hits and a team-leading eight walks (
Carly DiMento has also drawn eight walks).
Â
What's cookin', Baker?
Maddie Baker's bat is starting to catch fire. In the past three games, Baker has gone 4-for-10 with a home run and two doubles.
