WALTHAM, Mas. – The Bentley softball team opened its 2026 home slate with a doubleheader split against Saint Michael's Saturday afternoon. The Falcons won the first game, 8-4, by totaling 14 hits. However, Bentley was limited to five hits in a 6-2 loss.

Taylor Zajac tossed a complete game in the circle to earn her third win of the season. The Bentley freshman allowed only two earned runs on three hits and a walk.

The Falcons did most of their damage in the fourth inning when they scored six runs. Emma Callahan led off the stanza by getting hit by a pitch, and she scored in the very next at-bat when Becca Harris ripped a double. The next batter, Jess Morrison, drove in Harris with a single to left field.

Morris moved up a base when Bella Burke hit a single, and Ella Bunovsky loaded the bases with a single of her own. Michelle Diaz brought in two runners by hitting a double to center field, giving Bentley a 4-1 lead. Maddie Baker promptly followed with another two-run double to cap off the fourth inning.

In the fifth inning, Burke hit a single and she got herself into scoring position by stealing second base. Carly DiMento's double allowed Burke to easily score. Jess Morrison hit an RBI single in the sixth inning after Baker led off the stanza with a base hit.

Burke finished the game 3-for-3, while Diaz, Baker, Harris, and Morrison each finished with two hits.

Maddie Baker put forth another multi-hit effort by going 2-for-3 at the plate, but the Bentley bats were mostly muted in the second game Saturday.

The Purple Knights took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but the Falcons got a run back in the home half of the frame when Baker and Emma Callahan hit consecutive doubles.

Bentley's only other run came in the seventh inning. Jess Morison drew a one-out walk and she moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Bailey DeLeire then delivered an RBI double.

The Falcons and Purple Knights have another doubleheader scheduled for Sunday, March 29, at 12 p.m.
