Falcons meet with former U.S. Olympian Marty Liquori

WALTHAM, Mass. – As part of the Bentley Athletics Be A Force: Guest Speaker Series, the Bentley men's and women's track & field teams had the opportunity to meet with former U.S. Olympian Marty Liquori.

Liquori qualified for the 1968 Summer Games in Mexico City when he was just a freshman at Villanova. At 19 years old, Liquori reached the 1,500-m finals. He placed 12th overall in the event. In 1971, Liquori won gold for the 1,500-m in the Pan-American Games.

At the collegiate level, Liquori won three consecutive national titles in the mile run.

Overall, Liquori held the American records for the two-mile (8:17) and the 5,000-m (13:00.00).

What Falcons are saying:

"Marty Liquori's, background and success showed how hard work can take you far on and off the track, helping our team to continue to work hard and be resilient, to see positive results."
"Marty gave me a new perspective of how your mindset should shift between training and competing."
"I know that everyone on Bentley track & field appreciated Marty taking the time to talk to us. He gave us insights on a range of topics that student-athletes face, from team dynamics, motivation, and finding a career."
