BOSTON – Hayden MacArthur set a Northeast 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship meet record on his way to winning two medals during the final day of the conference championship Friday. The meet was held at the TRACK at New Balance.
Final Results
MacArthur dominated the 800-m, crossing the finish line in 1:51.53. That time is a meet record, school record, and good for NCAA D-II Championship provisional.
The 800-m gold wasn't MacArthur's only medal. He teamed up with
Rocco Bueti,
Michael Hemme, and
Anthony Cronin to win the 4x800 relay (8:04.15). MacArthur ran as the anchor, and when he grabbed the baton the Falcons were well behind Saint Anselm for second place. But MacArthur found a burst of speed around the final turn to claim a silver medal for Bentley.
Speaking of silver,
Steven D'Alessandro placed second overall in the 3K by crossing the finish line in 8:38.92. That distance race came down to a dramatic sprint between D'Alessandro and a runner from Southern Connecticut. D'Alessandro came up only 0.19 seconds from tying for first.
