Jorjorian tosses complete-game shutout, DiMento hits grand slam at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophie Jorjorian hurled a complete-game shutout, and Carly DiMento belted a grand slam to the lead Bentley softball team to an 8-0 win at Assumption Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons lost the second game of the doubleheader, 8-0.

Jorjorian, a freshman, allowed only five hits and two walks in her fifth complete game of the season. It was her third shutout, and her fourth outing without allowing an earned run through seven innings in the circle.

Bentley jumped all over the Greyhounds in the first inning, plating six runs in the opening stanza. Jess Morrison led off by reaching base on an error. Ella Bunovsky drew a walk, and Bella Burke was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Two batters later, Emma Callahan put the Falcons on the board with an RBI single.

The bases remained loaded for Becca Harris, and she forced in a run by drawing a five-pitch walk. After an Assumption pitching change, it was DiMento's turn at the plate, and she ripped her third home run of the season down the left field line.

DiMento drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning, and Caitlin Driscoll scored on an error in the seventh.

DiMento stayed hot in the second game, going 1-for-2 with a double. Morrison hit 2-for-3 in that same game.

After 12 consecutive games on the road, Bentley returns home to host Adelphi, April 18-19.
