COLCHESTER, Vt. - #20 Bentley dropped its regular season finale to Saint Michael's 13-9 on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons close out the regular season at 4-4 in NE10 contests. They will be the #6 seed in the NE10 Championship playoffs and will play either Saint Anslem or Pace in the quarterfinals next Saturday.
The key stretch of the game was a 4-0 Purple Knights run that stretched from late in the third quarter to early in the fourth quarter.
A goal by Bentley's
Harrison Murray with 4:23 left in the third quarter made it a 7-6 game in favor of the hosts.
Saint Michael's started the run with a goal one minute later by Chris Davis to take an 8-6 lead. The run concluded with a tally by Benjamin Riggs with 12:46 remaining in the fourth frame to lead 11-6.
Bentley broke the run with a goal by Beckett Mellhorn with 9:38 left. But Saint Michael's responded with two straight, both scored by
Sean Murphy, to take a 13-7 lead with 7:49 remaining.
The Falcons scored two late goals, from
Cooper Kraus and
Brady Glass, cutting it to 13-9 with 3:04 to play, but they weren't able to score again.
