SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – In its first regional matches of the season, the Bentley volleyball team beat Felician and Bridgeport during the East Region Clash hosted by American International Friday.
The Falcons swept Felician (25-17, 25-22, 25-17), and they topped Bridgeport in four sets (21-25, 25-18, 25-12, 30-28).
Bentley held Felician to a .057 hitting percentage, a season-best mark for the team's defensive efforts. The Falcons quickly outdid themselves by limiting Bridgeport to a .049 hitting percentage.
Lulu Pavan had a team-high 10 kills against Felician. The sophomore reached double-digit kills in five consecutive matches, averaging 3.22 kills per set during that stretch. Pavan's double-digit kills streak ended when she finished with nine against Bridgeport.
Tory Vitko had 30 assists against Felician, and she totaled 35 assists Bridgeport. The junior has reached the 30-assist mark in four consecutive matches and six times overall this season.
Sophia Poehlein achieved her third double-double of the season against Bridgeport. The junior finished with 15 kills and 12 digs. Freshman
Aaliyah Price Gooden had a season-high 11 kills against the Purple Knights.
Bentley concludes the East Region Clash Saturday with matches against D'Youville (9 a.m.) and Molloy (1 p.m.).
