WALTHAM, Mass. – Six different Falcons found the back of the net as the No. 7 Bentley women's soccer team cruised past American International, 6-0, in a non-conference game Friday evening. Bentley's record improves to 6-0 for the first time since 2001.
The onslaught included a couple of first-career goals in a Bentley uniform. Junior defender
Evelyn Beers headed in a corner kick delivered by
Tilly Fitzgibbons in the 36
th minute. Still in the first half, junior
Kaelin Fitzpatrick notched her first ever Bentley goal off an assist by
McKay Pratt in the 43
rd minute.
The Falcons held a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Sydney DeRoche scored her fourth goal of the season in the 50
th minute, and Pratt tallied her first goal of the season in the 63
rd minute.
Abi Hennessey opened the scoring in the 24
th minute.
Olivia Matthews stole the ball from a Yellow Jacket defender on the left side. Matthews' crossing pass was hammered home when Hennessey came sliding in for her sixth goal of the season.
Four minutes later, Matthews scored her third goal of the season.
Maddy LePage delivered a long pass from the right side down the middle of the field to Hennessey. Hennessey battled a defender and the goalkeeper for possession. She just got a foot on the ball to push it towards the goal line, and Matthews came sprinting down the middle of the field to drill it into the back of the net.
Although Bentley is only six games into the season, 14 different players have scored. The Falcons have 26 goals so far this season.
The Falcons officially open Northeast 10 action at Saint Anselm next Saturday, Sept. 26.
