WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophia Poehlein led all players with 10 kills, and
Tory Vitko totaled 27 assists, as the Bentley volleyball team swept Bridgeport (25-15, 25-16, 25-19) in the Dana Athletics Center Tuesday night. It was Bentley's first home match since Aug. 29. The Falcons' previous nine matches were all on the road.
With the win, The Falcons (8-6) extend their winning streak to seven matches. Even more impressive, Bentley's winning streak against regional opponents is now at 35 (dating back to the 2024 season).
Bentley was intently focused on its serving against the Purple Knights, and it resulted in a season-high 17 service aces for the Falcons. It's Bentley's most aces in a match since Sept. 2023 (vs. Dominican (N.Y.)).
Lauren Hallas and
Sasha Luzina each put away four aces in the win against Bridgeport.
The Falcons limited Bridgeport to a -.015 attack percentage – a season best mark for Bentley's defensive efforts. Luzina led all players in digs with 10. She has reached double-digit digs eight times this season.
Bentley returns home later this week to host Monroe Friday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m.
