DENVER – The Bentley volleyball team drew a couple of tough nationally ranked opponents to begin the Colorado Premier Challenge Friday. The Falcons lost to No. 14 Angelo State, 3-1 (19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-17), and they fell to No. 7 MSU Denver, 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-15).
Sophomore
Lulu Pavan totaled 25 kills between the two matches. She had 13 kills against Angelo State, and then she put away 12 kills against MSU Denver.
Tory Vitko totaled 30 assists in the first contest, and added another 27 in the latter match.
The Falcons had their best results in the first set of both matches. The weekend began with 25-19 win in the opening frame against Angelo State. The set was tied, 17-17, when Bentley went on an 8-2 run. A kill by Pavan started the run, and Vitko promptly followed with a kill of her own.
Elliet Manning served up an ace, and a kill by
Elena Coban closed out the first set in Bentley's favor.
In the opening frame against MSU Denver, the Roadrunners held set point at 24-19. Still, the Falcons were not ready move on the second set. The Falcons went on a 4-0 run, including kills by
Aaliyah Price Gooden and Pavan, but Bentley couldn't get that 24
th point to extend the stanza.
Bentley hit a season-best .256 against MSU Denver, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Roadrunners' .318 attack percentage.
