Bentley University

Gould Headshot

Kevin Gould

Kevin Gould ’10 has been named Bentley’s new head coach for men’s lacrosse, Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams announced on June 30, 2026.

Gould, a 2010 Bentley graduate, was the head coach at Roger Williams for the last four seasons. He becomes just the second head coach in program history. Gould succeeds Jim Murphy, who announced his retirement in May after 34 years.

“I want to sincerely thank Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams and Associate Athletic Director Courtney Finn for trusting me with the opportunity to lead this program,” said Gould. “Bentley University was transformational for me as a student-athlete, and to return as the head coach is truly the honor of a lifetime. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and cannot wait to get to work with our team.

I also would like to thank Coach Murphy for everything he has done for the Bentley lacrosse program and for the lasting impact he has had on so many student-athletes, alumni, and the Bentley community. Go Falcons!”

Gould led Roger Williams to 40 wins over four seasons, with a .556 overall winning percentage and a .636 winning percentage in conference games. The Hawks tied the program record for wins (13) in the 2024 season.

A native of Duxbury, Massachusetts, Gould had a standout four-year career at Bentley. He was team captain for his junior and senior seasons and was named a USILA All-American in 2010. He ranks 7th in program history in career points (159) and fifth in assists (82).

Gould was drafted by the Boston Cannon of Major League Lacrosse in 2010, 39th overall, and helped the team win the 2011 league championship.

“This is a great day for Bentley men’s lacrosse,” said Director of Athletics Vaughn Williams upon Gould's hiring. “As an alum, Kevin has a deep sense of pride for this place and believes strongly in what makes Bentley special. His passion for Bentley lacrosse runs deep – he truly bleeds Bentley blue and black and that is going to show in how he leads this program moving forward.”

After graduating from Bentley, Gould worked his way up the coaching ranks, first serving as an assistant coach at Bryant. He then transitioned to coaching Dartmouth, where he was the Big Green’s Offensive Coordinator.

Gould worked at UMass Lowell from 2015-2019 and earned the title of Associate Head Coach. He guided the River Hawks to the NCAA’s No. 3 ranked man-up offense in 2018, and the No. 2 ranked man-up offense in 2019.

Gould then coached at Providence in the Big East for three seasons as the Offensive Coordinator. During his tenure, the Friars averaged better than 11 goals per game in two seasons and had the NCAA’s No. 8 ranked man-up offense in 2020. He coached four All-Big East players on offense.

He takes over a Bentley program that made three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament from 2023-2025 and is regularly ranked in the USILA national top-20 poll.

“I’m incredibly excited for Kevin Gould as he takes over the program. Having had the opportunity to coach him while he was here, I know firsthand what a tremendous person he is and the character he brings to everything he does,” said Murphy.

“His connection as an alumnus only strengthens the foundation of this program—there’s a deep understanding and commitment that comes from having lived it.

Kevin’s experiences across the Division I and Division III levels have prepared him well, and those perspectives will serve him and the program tremendously.

I’m looking forward to staying connected with him and the Bentley community, and I have full confidence he will continue the program’s success and take it to even greater heights.”
