Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Brennan
DaCosta (San Diego, Calif./Westview) and freshman
Cody Osgood
(Harvard, Mass./The Bromfield School) each scored second
half goals as Bentley University extended its unbeaten streak to
six matches (4-0-2) with a 2-0 win over Saint Rose in Northeast-10
men's soccer on Saturday afternoon.
Scoring chances were tough to come by for both teams in the
first half, with the best chance going to Osgood in the 43rd minute
when his shot from the top of the box went just wide left.
Bentley finally broke through in the 57th minute with Osgood
setting up DaCosta for his team leading third goal of the season.
Osgood launched a ball over the top of Saint Rose's defense to the
feet of DaCosta, who ran onto the ball and fired a shot from 10
yards out that beat Patrik Ohlsson for the goal.
The Falcons went down to 10 men in the 66th minute when a red
card was given, but Osgood added an insurance goal, his second of
the year, in the 72nd minute. Junior Eric Ulmer
(Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) had the assist, feeding a nice
cross from the right wing into the box that Osgood volleyed in.
Bentley goalie Mike
Nikiforov (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) made three
saves to earn the win and his third shutout of the season.
Bentley improves to 6-1-2 on the season with the victory and to
3-0-2 in NE-10 play. Saint Rose falls to 1-7-1 and 0-6-0 on the
year.
The Falcons' next game is Wednesday night at UMass-Lowell at
7:00 p.m.
