LOWELL, Mass.- Trailing 2-1 at halftime, Bentley University
received second half goals from juniors Rasmus Christensen
(Copenhagen, Denmark/Gladsaxe Gymnasium) and Matt
Solomon (Avon, Conn./Avon Old Farms) to post a 3-2 win
over UMass-Lowell in Northeast-10 men's soccer Thursday
afternoon.
The win extends Bentley's unbeaten streak to seven (5-0-2)
and improves its overall record to 7-1-3, its best start to a
season since 1991. The Falcons are still unbeaten in NE-10 play at
4-0-2. UMass-Lowell falls to 1-8-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the
NE-10.
Christensen, in just his second appearance of the season,
leveled for Bentley in the 50th minute. Solomon set the goal up
with a cross from the right side, allowing sophomore
Brennan DaCosta (San Diego, Calif./Westview) to
feed Christensen for a tap-in goal.
Less than three minutes later Solomon put the Falcons up for
good with his third goal of the season. Christensen had a hand in
this goal as well, sending a cross in from the left wing that
Solomon put in past goalkeeper Connor Askins.
Bentley fell behind just 5:41 in on an Asley Barrios goal, but
senior Ryan Hatch (Haverhill, N.H./Woodsville)
equalized in the 13th minute with DaCosta on the assist. Hatch took
a pass from DaCosta at the top of the box and fired a shot that
beat Askins low and to the left.
Mohammed Saeed temporarily put the River Hawks back in front
with his second goal of the season in the 23rd minute.
The Falcons will look to extend their unbeaten streak to eight
when they travel to Southern Connecticut State on Saturday for a
6:00 p.m. game
