BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Junior David Carlsson and senior Rumen
Kerekov scored second half goals as C.W. Post topped Bentley
University 2-0 on Friday afternoon in a non-conference men's
soccer matchup.
The first 51-plus minutes of the game were scoreless until
Carlsson put the Pioneers up 1-0 with his first goal of the season.
Carlsson shot from 18 yards away and tucked the ball in the upper
left hand corner of the net.
In the 67th minute, Kerekov made it a two-goal game after taking
a pass from senior Kohsro Panah and scoring from nine yards
out.
C.W. Post tested Bentley goalie Mike Nikiforov
(Framingham, Mass./Framingham) often with 10 shots on
goal, while Bentley only mustered three shots on target. The hosts
also held a big advantage in corner kicks, 9-2.
The win is the first of the season for C.W. Post, who improve to
1-2 on the season, while the Falcons lose for the first time in
2010 and fall to 2-1.
Bentley is back in action on Wednesday afternoon when they host
Bridgeport at 3:00 p.m.
