WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Brennan DaCosta (San
Diego, Calif./Westview) and freshman Cody Osgood
(Harvard, Mass./Bromfield School) scored goals as Bentley
University improved to 3-1 on the season with a 2-0 win over
Bridgeport on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference men's
soccer.
After the first half was scoreless for much of the way, the
Falcons grabbed the game's first goal off the foot of DaCosta
just 38 seconds before halftime. Sophomore Weston Zeiner
(North Granby, Conn./Granby) took a throw in from freshman
Jordan Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) on the left
goal post, and crossed the ball to DaCosta on the right post who
slid it past Bridgeport keeper Milos Suljagic for a 1-0 lead.
The Falcons added an insurance goal in the 79th minute on
Osgood's first career goal. The goal was set up when junior
Amon Mohammadi (Stoneham, Mass./Stoneham) took a
shot that was saved by Suljagic, but Osgood was there on the left
post to put home the rebound for a 2-0 lead.
Junior goalie Matt Reynolds (Skillman, N.J./Hun
School) earned the start for Bentley and posted his first
career shutout with three saves.
Suljagic made five saves for Bridgeport in the loss.
Bentley returns to Northeast-10 play on Saturday when they
travel to Stonehill for an 11:00 a.m. game.
