Bentley's defense holds AIC to nine passing yards; Ford has a career game in win

WALTHAM, Mass. – It doesn't always have to be pretty. The Bentley football team overcame eight penalties (98 yards) and four turnovers to beat American International, 27-14, on Yetten Field Saturday afternoon.

Jack Ford and Rashon Bradford both hit the century mark for receiving yards, and Brett Pullman threw for 285 yards and four touchdown passes in the win.

The Bentley defense allowed only nine passing yards on 19 attempts. Joe Rivers notched a couple of sacks, while Andres Andujar and Santi Quiceno both picked off the AIC quarterback.

The first score of the game was none other than Pullman to Bradford for 39 yards to complete Bentley's second possession of the game. The Yellow Jackets answered back later in the quarter, and then they took a 14-7 lead with just under seven minutes left in the first half.

However, Bentley was still able to reach the end zone twice more before halftime. The game-tying drive started on Bentley's 41-yard line, and the Falcons struck quickly with a 29-yard completion to Ford up the middle. The next play went to Ford for another seven yards, and then Jonathan Oriakhi drew a pass interference call.

Another seven-yard completion – this time to Bradford – brought Bentley down to the AIC eight-yard line. On the very next play, Pullman connected with Nick Marciano for a touchdown.

From there, both teams had three-and-out possessions, but Bentley got the ball back with 1:45 left before halftime. The drive started on the AIC 47-yard line, and the first play was a 15-yard run by Pullman up the middle. Two plays later, Pullman hit Marciano for a 27-yard completion down to the AIC two-yard line. On the next snap, Bradford ran a quick out and caught his ninth touchdown of the season. The Falcons went into the locker room with a 21-14 lead.

Neither team scored in the second half up until late in the fourth quarter. Ford took a Pullman pass 58 yards down the far sideline to pay dirt. Ford finished the game with a career-high 102 receiving yards on five catches. Bradford had a career-high 11 receptions for 100 yards. It was his third game of the season with at least 100 receiving yards, and his third with multiple touchdowns.

Bradford continues to be a league of his own as a receiver in the Northeast-10, setting the pace with 51 receptions and 770 yards through seven games.

Bentley is set for consecutive road games, starting with Post Saturday, Oct. 26.
