Bentley Equals Season High for Goals in Win at Southern Conn

New Haven, Conn. – Bentley equaled its season high with five goals in a 5-0 shutout of Southern Connecticut State on Wednesday night.

Libby Harrison had two goals in 24 seconds in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead. Hannah Blomquist added a goal at 12:27 of the opening quarter as the Falcons held a commanding early lead.

Harrison's goal at 6:44 was set up after an initial shot was blocked. Nina Husak jumped on the loose ball and fed Harrison a short pass for the finish.

Just 24 seconds later she scored again off a nice solo effort after gaining possession near midfield. She dribbled into the circle and fired a shot to the far post for the goal.

In the final minutes of the first quarter, Blomquist's fourth goal of the season made it a 3-0 game.

Off a penalty corner, Lida Coco slid a pass over to McKenzie Carey. Carey then fired a shot that Blomquist tipped in for the goal.

Late in the fourth quarter, Carey and Meagan Hayes tacked on goals to make the score 5-0.

The Falcons scored five in two previous games this season, at St. Thomas Aquinas on Sept. 21 and Saint Michael's on Oct. 8.

Bentley outshot the Owls 27-5 and limited them to zero shots on goal.

With the win, Bentley improved to 7-3 in the NE10 and 8-7 overall. They host Adelphi on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
