WEST POINT, N.Y. – Bentley settled for a split with its series at Army West Point after a 4-1 defeat in the second game on Saturday.
The Falcons took the first game 6-3 on Friday.
Army took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jude Brower at 12:31 of the 1
st period. The Black Knights took that lead into intermission despite Bentley outshooting them 9-5.
In Friday's win Bentley scored goals in the first minute of the second and third periods, and the early goals continued on Saturday when
Sam Duerr scored 3:02 into the second period to tie the game 1-1.
His second goal of the weekend came high inside the right faceoff circle and was on the power play. The assists were by
Oskar Bakkevig and
A.J. Hodges.
Army though took the lead back with a little over five minutes remaining in the period on a goal by Nik Hong.
A key moment in the game occurred in the third period when Bentley's
Chase Davis appeared to tie the game with a goal assisted by
Nik Armstrong-Kingkade, only to have the goal overturned by an officials review.
A few minutes later, Army capitalized with a power play goal by Brent Keefer at the 11:13 mark to take a 3-1 lead. Michael Sacco added an empty net goal with 1:24 left.
Bentley ended the game with a 32-16 edge in shots on goal.
The Falcons are back in action on Friday night at home against Sacred Heart.
